According to a study conducted at the Bordet Institute by aesthetic care nurses in January 2021, it was found that out of 600 patients suffering from alopecia due to cancer or a serious illness, 200 of them wanted to find an alternative to traditional solutions such as wigs or cancer caps.

Designer and milliner Fabienne Delvigne, wanting to do more to improve the well-being of women going through a difficult period in their lives, has launched a new collection called “Caring Hat”.

The Caring Hat helps patients cope better with their illness and accept the side effects of treatment. It allows patients to maintain a positive self-image in relation to their family, friends, and professional environment.

Professor Martine Piccart, consultant at the J. Bordet Institute and international leader in the fight against breast cancer, says: “The project is bold and pioneering, as it will help improve patients' well-being and self-esteem. These aspects are often overlooked, even though they are essential pillars in the treatment of the disease.”
